I am looking for more information on my family. My Grandfather, Guiseppi Macario, was born September 14,1877. I do not know his parents name. All I have is he was born in France. My grandmother, Lucy Domenica Masara, was born February 11,1880 in Caselle Torino, Italy. Her parents names were Louis Masara and Maria Mesera. My grandparents were married in Torino Italy on February 2, 1902. They had 2 sons born in Torino, Italy. Peter in March 1903 and Guiseppi in April 1905. My grandfather came to the USA in December 1906 and his family followed in June of 1907. I would like any information I can find to help with my ancestry.
I am preparing a genealogy as a gift to a friend. She knows her grandfather Guiseppe Zammarrelli is from Salerno Italy and emigrated to the USA in 1904. Wishing to pinpoint a village for him, I was able to find a ship manifest from Naples to New York where he sponsored a man named Cantalufo or Cantalupo from Ogliastro Italy which I see is in the province of Salerno. Assuming her grandfather was at least in close proximity to this area enough to be aquainted with this man, can the Italian Zammarrelli family location be confirmed as Ogliastro as well?
I stumbled onto your post because I have ancestors from Ogliastro Cilento and they appear in a photo (perhaps 1900 – 1920) taken at Zammarrelli studios in Oglistro Cilento. Most likely the person you mention was Cantalupo – I am related by marriage (way back) to a Cantalupo from Ogliastro Cilento. Have you looked at the Ogliastro Cilento records in Family Search? I’ve used them and have come accross some Zammarrelli records. Good luck!
My grandfather carmine Ruggiero came from ogliastro cilento he married a luisa santangelo and had one child there Maria before coming the USA I am trying to find his birth record born December 15 or 22 1892 I have many documents of his so I know he was from there. Can you lead me in the direction I need to go thank you
