  1. Hello,
My great grandpa was from the Lanza family his name was Guiseppe Lanza, I don’t know much info on his direct family. I recognize a bunch of his cousin’s names on this chat. I know his sister in-law is a DeRosa and his niece married a cousin Muscillo. I’ve also seen other cousins as witnesses recorded under the names D’Aversa, Maselli, Marinaccio, Mirabella. I wish I knew how the Lanza’s are related to those cousins. If there’s any info someone has reply to me!
    Thanks fam

  3. I don’t see the surname DePaolis
I have records to indicate my grandfather and his brothers lived in this area before coming to the US. Anyone know the Depaolis family?

    1. Yes Melissa, I am a member of the DePaolis family. My name is Pasquale DiPaolis. My Grandfather, Giuseppe DePaolis was born in Accadia on March 3, 1893. He came to America on March 22, 1910 on the ship “Regina D’ Italia.. He was 17 years old when he landed on Ellis Island. He worked in the coal mines of West Virginia and eventually traveled to Buffalo, New York. He was joined with his bride to be, Maria Antonia Mirabella, also from Accadia, on October 14,1916. They had four children, Pasquale, Bessy, Joseph and Lucy. When Grandpa arrived at Ellis Island, in the confusion his name was mistakenly changed to “DiPaolis” and remained that way. on May 2, 1913 he traveled to Argentina to visit his two brothers. I do not know their first names. He returned to Buffalo on November 11, 1913. My Grand Parents owned a house in Buffalo and operated a store which they owned, that was on the first floor of their building. In 1932 that sold the store and house and bought a farm in Eden, New York. BTW, my daughter’s name is Melissa. I look forward to hearing from you. Addio per ora.

    2. Melissa, My grandfather’s name was Giuseppe DePaolis. when passing through Ellis Island our name got mistakenly changed to DiPaolis. I do not know the names of his brothers, but I know that my grandfather traveled to Argentina to visit his brothers that emigrated there. My Grandfather emigrated to the US in 1910. He passed away in 1961.

  4. TRying to find any information on a Rosaria Andriana (1857-1922) (?). She married a Francesco Palmieri (1856-1913) from Naples

    1. Frank, I have Francesco Palmieri born 1847 married to Rosaria Isabella Andreana born 4/12/1850 in my tree. She is the 2nd cousin of my Grandfather Giovanni DiGiorgio born 1880. I’m on ancestry and will check to see if you have a tree there. Never got a response to my email to this site, hoping we can help each other.

      1. Hi Jessie,

I came across this site by chance. My name is Joe. Did your grandfather Giovanni have a sister Antoinette? My paternal grandmother was Antoinette who married Giuseppe Andreana. She died in Accadia around 1917.

  5. Hi, my name is dominick andreana. I have traced my relatives back to accadia. My great great grandfather was enrico andreana , he had siblings Antonio, Domenico, ripalda and Anna. I heard they were raised in an orphanage in the town. If has information I would appreciate it thank you.

  6. Trying to find out if the family home where my grandfather was born in 1883 on 10/18 is still in the Maselli name. His name was Domenico Maselli. He died in the USA in 1977. Thanks, Josette

  7. My aunt Annina Pierro was born in Accadia, on March 5, 1934. She passed away in 2003 at the age of 69 in New York.
When she was 19 years old, she had a baby in Accadia, and the rumor is..she left the baby in front of the church.
Her parents Saveria and Michele Pierro made her give up the baby, because she wasn’t married. We think the baby was a girl.
We would love to find her baby now, and reunite her with the family.
    Thank you, Saveria

  9. Hello,

I’ve been working on my family tree for several months, and progress has been slow, especially on my father’s side of the family. I know that my paternal grandfather, Pasquale DeRosa, was born in Accadia on 7 Jun 1891, and arrived in America on 12 Jul 1907. But I know next to nothing about my Grandfather’s father, aside from the fact that he was born in Accadia, and that his name was Giuseppe DeRosa.

I do not have a date of birth for Giuseppe, nor do I have a DOB for his wife, Niccolette. In addition, I recently discovered that my grandfather has 3 siblings…

    Maria DeRosa b:1879 – d:1950

    Alphonso DeRosa b:1883 – d:1960

    Giuseppe DeRosa b:1898 – d:?

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who knows how to procure information on my paternal great-grandparents.

    1. Hi Joe,

I have a bunch of info on this family. My grandfather, Antonio Muscillo, came from Accadia, and was met in Long Branch by his uncle, Alfonso DeRosa. Antonio’s mother was Celestina DeRosa. Alfonso’s father was Giuseppe (b. 3/11/1843) and mother was Nicoletta Lallone. I have some more info if you are interested. I’m pretty sure this is the same family.

  10. My earliest ancestor (all of whom are from Accadia) that I have found was Carlo De Rosa most likely born in the late 1700’s. His son Luca De Rosa was married in 1836. Carlo’s wife’s name was Lucia Saveria Mampino. Luca married Serafina Ferrara. Her parents were Gabriel Ferrara and Carmini Passelli. Luca De Rosa and Serafind Ferrara had a son named Gabriele De Rosa. He was my great grandfather and was born Sept. 27, 1846. He married Rachela Mirabella Dotoli. Her parents were Antonio and Rafaella Dotoli. Gabriels’s brothers and sisters were named Lucia Saveria, Carmenantonia, Maria Carmella and Luigi who married Carmela Zambri. Gabriele and Rachela Mirabella’s first child, Anna, married Salvato Beniamino. Their second child, Luigi De Rosa married Carmela Zambri. Eufemia, third child, married Carmine Peppino Carratura and emigrated to the U.S. The Carratura’s founded and owned a very successful crane company in N.Y.C. The next son, Francesco also moved to the U.S. and founded a very profitable truck body company. Two more children followed, Lucia and Pasquale but both died within two years of their births. Luca was then born and married Maria Antoinette Conforti and they emigrated to the U.S. Another daughter was born and also given the name Lucia. She married Russo Arcangelo Raffaele Lorezno. Then, another son was born named Pasqualino. He was my grandfather. He emigrated to the U.S. and married Antoinetta Moscarelli whose family was very wealthy owning a whole city block in Brooklyn between 12th and 13th street and 60 and 59th Ave. They were in the construction business. Originally, the De Rosa’s were shoemakers but later became joiners. Pasquale was an architect and builder and built houses for the rich and famous in L.A. in the 1920’s. One of his homes is on the National Historical Register. Before emigration to the U.S, the family moved from Accadia to Sauvignano di Puglia for work. Pasquale and Antoinette had five living children, Rachela, Luca (my father), Henry, Orlando and Christopher. If any of these names are in your family, I would love to hear from you!
