Christmas is coming and, in these weeks, we would like to bring a little of the Italian Christmas atmosphere in your homes around the world.
The best way to do this is to share with you our typical songs: so, during Christmas time, we will select popular Italian Songs on ItalianSide.com.
“Tu scendi dalle stelle” is definitely the most traditional Italian Christmas song.
If you had an italian grandma, you know this song: she sang it for you when you were a child!
This is the first Christmas song that Italian children learn and sing at Christmas time.
Maybe not everyone knows that this is a very old song: original lyrics and melody were written in 1744 by Saint Alfonso Maria de Liguori a bishop from Napoli. (you can read lyrics and English translation at the end of this post)
To start this section of Italian Christmas songs we chose one of the world’s most famous Italian performers: Andrea Bocelli.
Enjoy your “Tu scendi dalle stelle” !
